Opening March 11, 2009 is Market House Theatre's production of Louis Sachar's There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom on the main stage. Sponsored by Taco John's, it is the story of antisocial and friendless Bradley Chalkers, a boy who believes that, although this is his first time in 5th grade, it will not be his last. He tells enormous lies. He picks fights with girls. No one likes him---except Carla, the funny and caring new school counselor who wears mismatched socks and insists students call her by her first name. She thinks Bradley could change, if only he weren't afraid
to try. But when you feel like the most-hated kid in the whole school, believing in yourself can be the hardest thing in the world. The author of HOLES brings us this
humorous and immensely appealing story about an unmanageable, but lovable misfit.
Newcomers Wyatt Martin plays Bradley, with Chance Wallis as Bradley’s potential victim/best friend Jeff. Shelbe Overby will be the shy Colleen, with Brenna Adams as the sassy, loud Lori and Natalie Shadrick as tough girl Melinda. Best friends Robbie and Brian will be played by Andrew Shannon and Stephen Moeller, with Delaney Darland as another classmate and the Goose. Stephen and Delaney are making
their MHT debuts.
New to the MHT stage is Diane Taveau as school counselor Carla and the Rabbit. Nancy Reeves will play the stuffy Mrs. Ebbel and the Turtle, with Betty Wise as the principal and Derek Estes as another teacher and Bartholomew. Bradley's clueless mother and domineering father will be played by newcomer LaDonna Miller and Matthew Curtis, while McKynleigh Abraham and Barry Adams will be Colleen's parents.
