Market House Theatre announces its 47th Anniversary Season
Market House Theatre will kick off its 2010/2011 Main Stage Season sponsored by Paducah Bank and IVS Media with the romantic musical comedy I LOVE YOU YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and Music by Jimmy Roberts. Highlighting the ups and downs of dating and marriage with songs like A STUD AND A BABE, THE SINGLE MAN DROUGHT, MARRIAGE TANGO, and THE BABY SONG. The show runs SEPT. 2-5, 9-12, 16-19, 2010.
Running November 11-14, 18-21, 2010 is the comic mystery BLOODY MURDER written by Ed Sala. A group of strangers are all invited to a country estate for a weekend of relaxation. Suddenly there is a murder! This classic “who-dunnit” takes an unexpected twist when all the guests realize they are characters in a murder mystery and refuse to kill each other off. The tension and laughter mount as the writer keeps trying more and more fiendish ways to kill off all the guests. A comic mystery that will keep you audiences laughing and on the edge of their seat.
January 13-16, 20-23, 2011 is THE COMPLEAT WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE- ABRIDGED developed by the Reduced Shakespeare Company. The Bard as you have never seen him before. Three actors attempt to present all of Shakespeare’s plays in 2 hours. Featuring the 5-minute Hamlet and Shakespeare’s tragedies as a cooking show! Comedy at its best!
Running April 21-24, April 28-May 1, 2011 is THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten. Five unforgettable southern whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team meet every august to recharge those relationships. A moving story of friendship and courage that will leave audiences inspired.
Wrapping up the season with a big bang is the musical smash hit ANNIE, JUNE 2-5, 9-12, 16-19, 2011. With the book by Thomas Meehan, Music by Charles Strouse, and Lyrics by Martin Charnin based on the Tribune Media Service Comic Strip, :Little Ophan Annie. Leapin' Lizards! The popular comic strip heroine takes center stage in one of the world's best-loved musicals. A little red headed orphan is taken in by gazillionaire Daddy Warbucks and finds a home. With songs like HARD KNOCK LIFE, TOMORROW, and EASY STREET audiences will be cheering this feel good musical!
All Market House Theatre shows are performed using local community talent from our region. Last year over 300 local people acted in a Market House Theatre production. The theatre is recognized nationally for its quality and outreach programming. Season Tickets for the 47th Season will be $85 total for with reserved or Flex pass seating. Seniors age 60 and up and
Students age 21 and under can order Season Tickets for $75. Season Tickets will go on sale for renewals and new orders April 20th. The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports Market House Theatre with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
